Hafez was opened in 1983 by food lovers Nusrat and Jessie Tadjiky and they were joined two years later by Head Chef Farshid Ziafat. In 2011 Hafez became a family business and is now co-owned by Farshid, brother-in-law Mehdi and sisters Fariba and Farzaneh.
Together with a dedicated team of staff, their experience and passion for Persian cuisine has built the reputation for quality and excellence that Hafez is known for today – not only as a restaurant but as a leader in outside event catering.
Our Head Chef
Head Chef Farshid Ziafat is renowned as one of the best Persian Chefs in the UK and today he remains at the very heart of Hafez Restaurant. From an early age he developed his specialist skills working in his father’s restaurant the ‘Royal Tehran’ with Head Chef Nassar Sharif. The ‘Royal Tehran’ was one of the first restaurants in Tehran to achieve a five star status award. His family have been successful restaurateurs in Iran, opening the famous, original Nayeb restaurant in the Tehran bazaar 120 years ago.
Farshid is a passionate perfectionist who has brought his own style and quality to Persian food in London. His talent for outside catering has taken him to events all over the UK and in Europe and the USA.

The internal decor was just amazing. It must have taken hours and hours to put the various features together – utensils individually screwed to the wall, amazing light fittings and more… These features would have made this place a destination on their own.
Ali Siavoshi is the British based designer behind the Hafez décor. Born in Iran, Siahvoshi has a unique approach to contemporary design using recycled everyday objects, from table legs to cutlery. Siahvoshi specialises in light fixtures that exemplify the beauty of utilising discarded objects for new purposes.
